I have had both at my house and Xfinity had random outages frequently and inconsistent speeds. With AT&T, I have not had the outages but do still occasionally get slower speeds, but they are fairly uncommon. 9 AwkwardSkywalker • 4 yr. agoXfinity’s slower internet speeds are cheaper than AT&T’s slow fiber plans. But AT&T’s high-speed fiber plans are cheaper than Xfinity’s, so you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck with AT&T. And while both providers have a reasonably sized data cap on some plans, most of AT&T’s plans come with unlimited data. In comparison, Xfinity ...CenturyLink DSL is complete crap. Currently have Xfinity/Comcast in an apartment and regularly get speeds faster than what we pay for. Typical speeds are 130/25 and we pay 39.99 a month. The biggest thing people need to understand is that the cable company is only half to blame for poor internet connectivity.Xfinity has no upside. Worse product, worse value, worse stability, worse company. I’ve had a better experience with AT&T Fiber than Google Fiber. Over the course of 1 year with ATT we never had a single outtage. With Google Fiber since October we’ve had 4 outtages lasting several hours/days. My goal is to find other service providers that aren't AT&T or Verizon, but can also provide decent internet. I'd hate to get locked into an internet plan that caps my data and is already in control of my phone service.I use Metronet and they are great. I'd say try astound just to get away from Comcast as long as the contract can be broken for cheap/nothing and you can go back to comcast. If you're by yourself and not multitasking a lot where you would notice it is getting new games, they would download faster, but that's about it, and it would be a noticeable difference depending for Xbox and PlayStation, less noticeable for Steam..
