Geodetic Surveys of 1878-1895. Staring in 1878, the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey’s expedition of the 39 th Parallel began construction of triangulation stations in Nevada. Twenty-three stations were built between San Francisco and Salt Lake City encompassing 2500 miles of arcs. Of the “Great Hexagon,” eight sites were on peaks in Nevada.
We base this analysis on a set of positions derived from continuously operating GPS stations processed by the Nevada Geodetic Laboratory (Blewitt et al., 2018). The holdings include RINEX data files from hundreds of GPS networks around the world with >19,000 stations and ∼45,000,000 daily RINEX files.SUMMARY.
